Privacy Policy for Lumo Remote

Effective date: 6 August 2026

Joda Software (“Joda Software”, “we”, “us” or “our”) operates Lumo Remote – Bluetooth LED Strip Controller (“Lumo Remote” or the “App”).

This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use Lumo Remote, why it is processed, and the choices available to you.

1. Information processed by the App

Bluetooth information

Lumo Remote uses Bluetooth to discover, connect to and control compatible LED lights.

The App may process Bluetooth device names, identifiers, connection status, signal information, supported services and characteristics. This information is used to establish and restore connections and send commands to your lights.

Saved lights and associated preferences are stored locally on your device. Joda Software does not receive your Bluetooth device names, Bluetooth identifiers or lighting commands.

Microphone and Music Mode

Music Mode uses your device’s microphone to analyse sound levels and frequency information so that connected lights can react to music and other sounds.

Audio is analysed live on your device. Lumo Remote does not record, save or upload microphone audio. Only temporary measurements such as volume, bass, mid-range and treble levels are produced during processing.

Microphone access is optional and is requested only when you use Music Mode. You can revoke permission through iOS Settings.

Locally stored information

The App may store the following information locally:

  • Saved lights and nicknames

  • Scenes and colour preferences

  • App settings

  • Recently used controls

  • Temporary feature-unlock status

  • Connection and protocol preferences

This information remains on your device and can generally be removed by deleting it within the App or uninstalling the App.

Analytics information

Lumo Remote uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the App is used and improve its reliability.

Analytics information may include:

  • A pseudonymous app-instance identifier

  • App launches, sessions and screen interactions

  • App version and operating-system version

  • Device model, language and approximate geographic region

  • Whether Bluetooth scanning or connection succeeded

  • General categories of lighting protocols used

  • Use of features such as effects, scenes and Music Mode

  • Advertising and purchase-related interactions

  • Crash or technical-performance information, where provided by the applicable service

We do not intentionally send Bluetooth device names, Bluetooth UUIDs, exact selected colours, microphone audio, raw Bluetooth packets, names, email addresses or other directly identifying information to Firebase Analytics.

Google describes the information collected through its analytics services in its data-collection documentation and privacy policy.

Advertising information

The free version of Lumo Remote displays banner, interstitial and rewarded advertisements using Google AdMob.

Depending on your location, consent choices and iOS tracking permission, advertising providers may process:

  • Advertising identifiers, including IDFA when authorised

  • IP address

  • Device and app information

  • Advertising impressions, interactions and performance

  • Approximate location derived from an IP address

  • Consent and privacy-preference information

  • Fraud-prevention and security information

Where required, Lumo Remote asks for consent before requesting personalised advertising or tracking permission. If you decline tracking, you may still receive non-personalised or limited advertisements.

You can review or change available advertising choices through the App’s Privacy Options and through:

iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking

Google explains how it uses information from apps using its services at How Google uses information from partners’ apps.

Purchases

Lumo Remote offers a lifetime Pro purchase. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store, and Joda Software does not receive your complete payment-card or bank-account details.

RevenueCat is used to verify purchases and provide Pro access. RevenueCat may process:

  • An anonymous App User ID

  • Product and entitlement information

  • Purchase status and purchase history

  • Apple receipt information

  • Device type, operating system and related technical information

You can read RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy for more information.

Information you provide directly

If you contact Joda Software for support, we may receive your email address, the contents of your message and any diagnostic information or screenshots you choose to provide.

Please avoid sending sensitive personal information or microphone recordings when requesting support.

2. How information is used

Information is processed to:

  • Provide Bluetooth discovery and lighting controls

  • Operate Music Mode

  • Save your preferences and scenes

  • Verify purchases and restore Pro access

  • Deliver, personalise and measure advertising where permitted

  • Understand feature usage

  • Diagnose connection and compatibility problems

  • Improve performance, reliability and user experience

  • Prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents

  • Meet legal and regulatory obligations

Depending on your location and the circumstances, our legal bases may include performing our contract with you, your consent, compliance with legal obligations and our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the App.

Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn.

3. Sharing of information

We may share or permit the processing of information by:

  • Apple, for App Store distribution, purchases and platform services

  • Google Firebase, for analytics

  • Google AdMob and User Messaging Platform, for advertising, consent management and advertising measurement

  • RevenueCat, for purchase verification and entitlement management

  • Professional advisers, regulators or authorities where legally required

  • A successor organisation in connection with a merger, acquisition or transfer of the business, subject to applicable privacy law

We do not sell personal information directly in exchange for money.

However, disclosures to advertising providers for personalised advertising may be considered a “sale”, “sharing” or use for “targeted advertising” under certain privacy laws. Where applicable, you can object or opt out using the App’s Privacy Options.

4. Data retention

Locally stored information remains on your device until you remove it, reset the relevant settings or uninstall the App.

Analytics, advertising and purchase-verification information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Specific retention periods may also be determined by our service-provider settings, legal obligations, fraud-prevention requirements and the providers’ respective retention policies.

Support correspondence may be retained while necessary to respond to your request, maintain appropriate business records and resolve legal or technical issues.

5. International transfers

Google, RevenueCat and other service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom or European Economic Area, including in the United States.

Where required, international transfers are protected through appropriate safeguards, such as adequacy regulations, approved contractual protections or other legally recognised transfer mechanisms.

6. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • Request access to personal information

  • Correct inaccurate information

  • Request deletion

  • Restrict or object to processing

  • Receive portable copies of certain information

  • Withdraw consent

  • Opt out of personalised or targeted advertising

  • Lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority

Because Lumo Remote does not require an account and much of the information is pseudonymous, we may need additional information to identify data connected with your installation. In some cases, we may be unable to associate analytics information with a particular individual.

UK users may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information through a support request or otherwise, contact us so that we can investigate and, where appropriate, delete it.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect information. Communications with third-party services are generally encrypted in transit.

However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

9. Third-party services

Third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy policies. Their practices may differ from ours, and Joda Software does not control how they independently process information.

Relevant policies include:

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, our service providers or applicable legal requirements change.

The revised policy will be published with a new effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through the App or its App Store listing where appropriate.
